It is such a non-issue though that nobody really cares about. It's a little quirk of broadcasting and there is no beneficial reason to get rid of it.

If STV were agree to such an arrangement, absolutely nothing, other than balancing the ad breaks.

There used to be a Sunday morning kids' show that started in GMTV time and continued until mid-morning, possibly Disney Club or similar.

This is true: Disney Club (produced by Scottish) overlapped between GMTV and the ITV network times at certain points from 1993 However it had been part of the schedule since 1989, and presumably Scottish & Disney (and to a point LWT) being shareholders in GMTV helped make this possible.

Of course back then UTV and Channel were also independent of Carlton/Granada so would have had to agree too.

Incidentally, did GMTV go through the regional companies at the weekend or was there a line switch like in TV-am days? As there were no regional opts having an opportunity to take the regional companies' MCR/pres areas out of circuit for maintenance etc might have been useful.

All the other franchises were independent of Carlton and Granada too.

I remember after a few months the pre-9:25 part of the show became a separately branded strand so perhaps there were objections.

When it was the same programme, I wonder if ITV held rights to different Disney shows than what GMTV had, which would have influenced the times certain shows were screened...

A few years back there was a thread on ITV's Day of Promise from back in 2000, and the above video talks about what a failure it was. It doesn't add much more than what was said in the thread, but I thought some might appreciate it all the same.

There was certainly a 'splat' at 09:25 weekends here in Meridianland, until playout transferred to LNN in the early 00s

Could be a red herring though, because LNN had macro regions for GMTV ads, and there was a custom switching box that reconfigured the network line out feeds at 06:00 and 09:25. I know, because I moved that box (and its standby one) from one bay to another in 2000

I missed it first time round (probably because it wasn't embedded as a video) so thanks for posting it again.

It look almost the entirety of that video to work out why I recognised him...turns out I watched him explaining the chaos of computing time and timezones a few months back. Shocked

I didn't realise there are actual places where these promises were written down. The decade old logo lives on!

The East India Docks Basin site is the only one we have photographic evidence of that it still exists (both previously here on TVF and in that video). Some of them are a little odd.

Glancing through the linked thread, the question has to be did people get their refunds of £25 if the Promise Site they were closest to (I presume that was the idea) didn't get built, as appears to be the case in the vast majority of these? Or was the £25 figure going to go towards the cost of the sites, engraving and maintenance?

I'm not for one moment suggesting any foul play with the money and ultimately lack of sites, it's a thought that occurred to me.
