Has anyone noticed the cue cards presenters use when doing an OB. Tony had them a few months in Rome, Gordon has them today at Tatton - there black and red (bbc clamshell look) with north west tonight logo on them? It also looks like the globe is turned to the a map of the north west too.

Strange, could this of been an unaired look of NWT before the 2007 relaunch?

I noticed them too and it looked similar to this:

Where is NWT??

I had my breakfast watching BBC Breakfast and saw Midlands Today insert at 7.30am, just thought it was a technical glitch at Manchester.

But now I'm having my tea watching Midlands Today instead of North West Tonight??

I am deffo on Virgin channel 101, I live in Salford!!

At one time Virgin used to take terrestrial channels via DTT. The DSO change at Winter Hill has meant that the multiplex which previously carried BBC1 NW has been removed and the full power one has been launched.

It sounds like Virgin have had problems with retuning their kit to receive the new mux and have substituted a feed from Brum.

Yep, definitely just a Virgin problem. I watched the 7:30am regional news this morning on Freeview (after re-tuning) and it was definitely BBC North West. I switched over to BBC ONE Wales half way through to enjoy all the new Welsh digital channels that have suddenly become available!!

I notice they've changed the background slightly on the screens. It still shows Salford but the "etched" moving globes and lines have been changed so it looks like a continuation of the real set. Hard to explain really, you have to see it. The scrolling text at the bottom has gone too.

Personally, although some weren't keen, I think the scrolling text made it look better as it joined the light panels at the bottom of the set and the screen a bit better.

Hope you North Westers enjoyed seeing another former network TV icon for a change tonight?

According to Thursdays NWToday, Heather Stott, the Lunchtime weather presenter is to have her head shaved in NWTonight (Friday), she said someone had offered her a lot of money to do it for Children In Need, didn't say how much tho. Bet shes wearing some sort of hat nxt week.

I notice during Breakfast bulletins there are two people cycling across the bridge who always just disappear off the bridge! Obviously where they have edited the video of the Salford Quays view, but you would think A: They would have been more careful about where they looped the tape, and B: that it would be a longer loop so you don't see the cyclists disappear two or three times in one bulletin.

Nice special titles for the programme tonight presented from the Childrens' Hospital. Did anyone manage to capture them? The website doesn't seem to have updated the programme yet either.

Don't call me Scrooge, as nice as that was tonight, there was no News on NWT! Even Granada Reports had more News on tonight. Confused

The Christmas endboard animation at the end of the programme is quite a nice touch. I really like it.

That was the only problem with that bulletin. There should have been a throw to the studio for a news summary at least at some point.
