I noticed the coffee table used for Impact today has turned some alien colors that were never synonymous with Impact before. The standard orange is replaced by some dual-color combination. A mistake with the programming the lighting or a new slight makeover?

I think it must be a mistake, because the desk's lighting can be changed into lots of colours so maybe the lights were not working.

Funnily enough, the same thing happened last Friday on GMT with Zeinab Badawi. The desk normally underlit with red splashes went through cycles of red and blue and white lighting.

Bugs in the system maybe, causing the lighting malfunction just as how the cameras go on their own walks sometimes. Here are the pics. They are now cyan and red. Looks very striking come to think of it, contrasts with the generally orange background.

If you miss-plug RGB as BGR you'll get cyan instead of orange.

It's been said by at least one of the insiders that the lighting is not currently under the control of the automation (like the cameras are). That either leaves miss-plug, incorrect memory loaded on the lighting desk, or someone experimenting - either way, not a malfunction or a bug in the system.

Isn't cyan / red the main colours of Persian (or Arabic)?

The cyan/red scheme is used for:

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess it now leaves human error on the table. I've never watched the Arabic strand before, but from the pics, it looks possible. Anyway that was Monday with the funny colours. Tuesday it was red, but hardly noticeable unless one really scrutinize. Only on Wed it's back to orange.

Maybe I haven't noticed it before, but I now see that this studio has new installations for 2 projector screen like objects hanging above, and programmes like Impact now uses a 2D hologram-like display for talking with correspondents. Maybe the projector screen things above are part of the devices that projects the image to appear slightly in front of the background LCD panel during videoconferences.

Not human error. The table uses wireless DMX and power sometimes gets confused

Hardtalk is coming from Studio C today. I occassionally saw it coming from B, the one where GMT comes from as well.

No, it's definitely the Millbank studio (MB1 I believe) - it looks nothing like Studio C, compared to the cap above!

EDIT: On this episode of HardTalk there's a clock thing before it.
